The resident from Arnhem received a call from his bank that he did not trust. While he was talking to the so-called bank employee, the family member called the police. The police responded quickly and made a plan to catch the suspects in the act.
Suspect is caught
Due to the vigilance of the residents, the police had enough time to position themselves around the house. As expected, a so-called bank employee appeared at the door to collect the bank card and valuables. He had no chance, as officers immediately arrested him.
Police find two other suspects
Since the suspect was from Breda, the police searched for his car and other suspects. This was successful; soon a car with two other suspects from Breda was stopped. The three suspects (17, 17, and 19 years old) are suspected of bank helpdesk fraud and are in custody for further interrogation.
Scam tactic
Scammers often use a scam tactic to mislead victims, especially the elderly, to steal money or jewelry. They pose as bank or police employees to gain trust. Warn older family members or neighbors about this scam to prevent them from becoming victims.
