Suspects Arrested for Robbery

On Tuesday, shortly before 14:00, the police were alerted to a robbery at an electronics store on Gedempte Gracht in Zaandam. Two young suspects, armed with a hammer, smashed display cases and fled with stolen phones. An undercover officer saw them running away and pursued one of them, who resisted and injured the officer. However, the officer managed to hold the suspect until more colleagues arrived. He had to see a doctor but was not hospitalized.
The arrested suspect is a 17-year-old boy from Zaandam. The other suspect, a 13-year-old boy from Amsterdam, was apprehended by bystanders and handed over to the police. Both suspects are now detained at the police station.
The stolen phones have been recovered and will be returned to the owner.
