Combination of Heavy Fireworks and Accelerant Found in Huigenbos Apartment

Gebied: Amsterdam

In the early morning of January 22, 2024, an explosive package was discovered in an apartment at Huigenbos in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The police are seeking witnesses and footage of the vandalism and explosive.

At around 03:25 AM, a person reported that a window of the gallery on the seventh floor had been broken. A bag containing explosives and flammable liquid was also found.

Officers quickly arrived and saw a white Primark bag next to the broken window. Inside the bag were dangerous substances: an accelerant and heavy fireworks. It could have had catastrophic consequences if it had exploded.

The Explosives Safety Team Leader called in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal to safely remove the explosives.

The investigation team is looking for information. Did you see someone with a white Primark bag at the flat around 03:20 AM? Did you see someone place the bag by the entrance on the seventh floor?

Explosions
The police in Amsterdam faces many incidents with explosives, which is concerning for the safety of businesses, residents, and responders. Illegal fireworks and explosives do not belong in public spaces and create life-threatening situations. The police are working hard to find the perpetrators and have already made several arrests. Community members are crucial for the investigation as they know their neighborhood well. Report suspicious situations!
