We received a report of the shooting incident around 02:30 AM. On the Energieweg, officers found a 27-year-old man from Groningen injured. He was taken to the hospital with injuries. Shortly after the shooting incident, a suspect was arrested elsewhere in Groningen. This person is no longer in custody.
Conflict involving multiple people
The police immediately began, among other things, a forensic investigation. They have also already spoken with those involved and witnesses. We consider the possibility that a conflict occurred first at the Suikerunieterrein, involving multiple people. This conflict may have then moved via the footbridge to the Energieweg. Ultimately, shots were fired there, and the 27-year-old man was injured.
