More Space for Farmers for Eco Activities Due to Wet Spring

Minister Piet Adema of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) has decided to postpone the start dates for eco activities due to the wet spring. Many farmers cannot perform activities such as pasture access and sowing herbs. Therefore, the activities will now start 2 to 4 weeks later.

The eco scheme is part of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and provides farmers with the opportunity to earn premiums by engaging in sustainable activities. Due to the rain, the start dates have already been postponed earlier. This is now the second time due to exceptional circumstances.

Farmers now have more space for eco activities such as green fallow and herb-rich grassland. The deadline for sowing green cover has been moved to June 15.

More information about the changes can be found on the RVO website.
