After the home invasion, the Forensic Investigation team arrived on the scene. They managed to secure DNA profiles at the time. This led to a match, allowing the 22-year-old resident of Almere to be arrested on Tuesday, February 18. The detectives also examined his phone, which showed that it was in the vicinity of the crime scene during the incident.

What happened?

A 73-year-old man was home invaded (August 14) in his own residence on Pinksterbloemweg in Almere. The victim had learned not to open the door easily, especially during the night. But this time he heard someone calling for help around 00:30 and wanted to assist that person. He then decided to go downstairs and open the door. Unfortunately, things went terribly wrong.

Brutal violence

As soon as the victim opened the door a crack, it was forcefully pushed open. He fell hard and was immediately threatened with a knife and asked for his personal belongings. His mouth was then taped shut, and he was told he would be stabbed if he made any noise. The victim was in enormous shock.
