Elderly man robbed in home by home care, police seeks witnesses

Gebied: Breda

An 88-year-old man was robbed in his home on Doenradestraat. This occurred at the end of the afternoon on Saturday, February 8. Two women posed as home care workers. The police are looking for people who know more or who have seen anything.

At around 5:00 PM, a woman was standing at the door of the house. She claimed to be a worker from a home care agency in Breda. She said she was there to collect a letter with details, after which she could set various things in motion for the resident. Shortly after, another woman entered the house.

The daughter of the man, who was present at the time, became suspicious. A quarrel ensued, after which the resident and his daughter tried to throw the women out. It then became apparent that there was also a man in the house. He was only noticed when he came down the stairs. A brief struggle occurred, causing the resident to fall against his walker.

The trio left the house and got into a dark car where a driver was waiting for them. They then drove away. After their departure, a piece of jewelry was found to be stolen. It is still unclear if more items are missing.
