The police and municipality are paying close attention to this group and the disturbances they cause. Surveillance and checks are being conducted in the area. Police investigations have shown that several boys are involved in fraud via Facebook Marketplace. In total, there are twelve fraud cases with the same method of operation: customers received a package with stones or waste instead of the ordered product.
One of the boys suspected of this, a 17-year-old Rotterdam resident, transferred the money he earned from the fraud to his mother. She has also been arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
Further investigation revealed that three boys have used a card that was taken during a street robbery. One of these suspects is the 17-year-old who is also suspected of the fraud via Facebook Marketplace. During a search, a total of 4,500 euros in cash was seized from this suspect, and a lien was placed on his savings account worth approximately 6,000 euros.
The suspects have since been released. They are still suspects and will have to answer to a judge later.
