The Public Prosecution Service today demanded three years of imprisonment against two Colombians suspected of preparing narcotics in a cocaine washing facility in Spijkenisse. In the home where they worked, many hundreds of liters of chemicals and other supplies for making drugs were found. There was large-scale production, said the public prosecutor.
The case started rolling after the police received an anonymous tip that there was a very strong acetone smell around a house on Dragondonk. Various jerrycans with chemicals were also delivered. When the police observed the house, they noticed that the entire building was filled with cameras on the front and back sides. In the garden, officers heard people speaking Spanish to each other. For safety reasons, the Arrest Team was deployed that night to force the door open. Inside the house and in the garden, four people, including the two residents, were arrested. Some had white crystalline residue on their arms. Inside the house, it became clear how dangerous the situation was.
Chemicals in Large Quantities
When the National Facility for Dismantling (LFO) of the police finishes mapping the hazardous substances in the house, the count stands at 1395 liters of contaminated acetone, 675 liters of pure acetone, and 240 liters of hydrochloric acid. Dozens of kilos of the cutting agent procaine and among other things centrifuges, scales, and sealing machines were also found. The combination of the chemicals found in these quantities in a house in the middle of a residential area is an enormous risk. Acetone is highly unstable and can explode. Furthermore, there is a danger that it will become more widely known that drugs are being manufactured there and other criminals want to steal it with violence. You wouldnt want to live next to that, said the public prosecutor.
The suspects claim that they were just visiting the house, but the Public Prosecution Service believes nothing of it. I think the gentlemen specifically flew here from Colombia to give instructions for setting up and maintaining this drug lab. In which production has already taken place, and not a little, given the many hundreds of liters of contaminated acetone that have been found.
The judge will rule on the case against the Colombian suspects in two weeks. The other two suspects will appear before the judge at a later time.
