On January 28, the municipality of Breda, along with the police and the Baronie Intervention Team (BIT), found thousands of hemp plant cuttings in a storage unit in Southwest Breda. A total of around 250 storage boxes were inspected at three different locations.

The 5,000 cuttings were intended for cultivating cannabis plants and setting up large-scale hemp farms. The location where the cuttings were grown posed a danger to the environment due to illegal power connections and overloaded systems, which increased the risk of power outages and fires. The police seized the cuttings for further investigation.

Joint Approach Against Undermining

This inspection is part of the joint approach to undermining crime by the Baronie municipalities and the Taskforce-RIEC Brabant-Zeeland.

Suspected criminal activities can be reported anonymously via Meld Misdaad Anoniem: 0800-7000.
