The report started with a threat between two acquaintances. During this investigation, information emerged that there might be explosive materials in this warehouse.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal
During an initial exploration of the building, a large amount of flash powder was found. As a precaution, an area of 50 to 100 meters around the warehouse was cordoned off. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) came on-site to further investigate the building, remove the found materials, and safely detonate them elsewhere.
During a second and third exploration of the building, additional materials that can be used for making explosives were again found. Around 9 PM, the area around the building was released again.
Arrest
A 28-year-old man from Ossendrecht was arrested for possession of the materials. He is also a suspect in the investigation into the threat. He remains in custody.
Substances
The Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) is investigating the exact composition of the substances. It appears that a total of hundreds of grams of flash powder have been found. Flash powder is a very sensitive substance that can ignite with a small spark, such as from a statically charged wool sweater. Several kilograms of a substance were also found that is not explosive by itself but becomes explosive when mixed.
