This concerns a 45-year-old man from Heerlen. He was arrested in his hometown and is suspected of participating in a criminal organization and exporting cocaine to England.
The undermining investigation focuses on criminal activities involving several transport companies. Drugs from South America come to the Netherlands via the port of Antwerp and are then transported to England.
Transport companies from Bunde and Nuth, located at Maastricht Airport, played a crucial role in this.
Modus Operandi
The transport companies are central to the export of thousands of kilos of cocaine to England. Initially, prepared battery packs were used. When this method came to light, they switched to using hollow metal cylinders.
Through these transports, the suspects earned millions of euros.
Seized Items
During the searches, vehicles (transport vehicles, vans, trailers, and exclusive cars), art, large sums of money, expensive clothing and jewelry, racehorses, luxury watches, two firearms, data carriers, money counting machines, phones, and 315 kilos of cocaine were seized. Additionally, assets such as bank accounts, houses, and businesses, including a riding school, have been confiscated.
The six previously arrested suspects have now been brought before the Examining Magistrate and are still in custody.
