76 million air passengers in 2024, 6 percent less than in 2019
In 2024, 76.2 million air passengers traveled to and from the five national airports in the Netherlands. This is nearly 7 percent more than in 2023, but 6 percent less than in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. There were 537 thousand flights in commercial traffic, more than 6 percent more than the previous year. Air freight increased by nearly 8 percent to over 1.5 million tons. This is reported by CBS based on new figures.
As in most years, the third quarter saw the most flights and passengers transported; this quarter includes the school and construction holidays.
With 49.2 thousand flights and 7.4 million transported passengers, August was the busiest month of 2024. The busiest days were Monday, July 29, and Monday, August 5, with 252 thousand travelers per day. The quietest day was Tuesday, January 16, with 131 thousand incoming or departing passengers.
