The victim was crossing the intersection of Dirk van Santhorstweg and N206 on his bike around 4:00 PM on February 15 when he was hit by a car. Bystanders and medical personnel attended to the boy, who was urgently transported to the hospital. The driver of the car, a 34-year-old man from Zoetermeer, was arrested at the scene as a suspect.
The road was closed for a long time for investigation by traffic accident experts from the police. The investigation has since revealed strong indications that the driver must be held responsible for the accident. The man remains in custody for questioning.
