Rutger Jeuken started his career in 2001 at the Public Prosecution Service as a public prosecutor at the Middelburg District Public Prosecutors Office, after which he became Deputy Attorney General at the The Hague Court of Appeal in 2004. Since 2006, he has held various positions, both as a (detective) public prosecutor and in managerial roles, at the Middelburg, Breda, and Functional District Public Prosecutors Offices. From 2017 he was deputy chief public prosecutor at the Midden-Nederland District Public Prosecutors Office, after which he became chief public prosecutor of that same office in 2019.
Rutger Jeuken succeeds Hugo Hillenaar, who has recently become the chairman of the Supervisory Committee on the Intelligence and Security Services (CTIVD).
