The police were tasked by the mayor to prevent protesters from blocking the highway. Due to significant safety risks and the accessibility of the Amsterdam UMC hospital, demonstrating on the A10 was irresponsible. An alternative location was designated on the grass field by the ING building.
Protesters blocked traffic on the A10 near Henk Sneevlietweg and on the A4 near Oude Haagseweg after noon. The police quickly lifted the blockades by arresting protesters and removing vehicles. More than 40 protesters were arrested under Article 162 of the Penal Code and/or Article 5 of the Road Traffic Act.
Another group attempted to occupy the A10 at Amstelveenseweg, but the police prevented this. They did not get further than the on-ramp. The protesters were asked to leave; some complied, while others, about 147 individuals, were arrested and taken to a location in Amsterdam-North.
