Youth Suspect Arrested After Series of Scooter Thefts

On Sunday, March 2, a theft took place on Ibisdreef. During a test drive of a scooter for sale, the victim was pushed off his scooter, after which the theft occurred. A day later, a similar theft took place on Aleppodreef. The victim was severely beaten. Again, a day later, another violent robbery of a scooter took place on Ibisdreef. In all three incidents, the description of one of the involved suspects matched. When a violent theft of a scooter also occurred in Amstelveen, sharing information about the modus operandi, description, and possible identity of one of the suspects accelerated the case. Surveillance officers saw the suspect walking on Ankaradreef on Friday, March 7, around 7:25 PM, at which point he was immediately arrested. He is still in custody, and the police continue the investigation into other possible suspects.
