Green Light for Energy Fund in 2025

Vulnerable households can also apply for support through an energy fund this year. This is the outcome of a new round of discussions between the cabinet and the energy sector. They are now working together to open the fund as soon as possible.

“Many households are worried about whether they can pay their energy bills. For them, it is good news that they can still apply for support this year. I want to thank the energy sector for their willingness to contribute,” says responsible Secretary of State Jurgen Nobel (SZW).

“With the energy fund, we will help vulnerable households in the short term with high energy prices. Additionally, we will continue to work on structural solutions to keep energy bills affordable,” says Minister Sophie Hermans (KGG).

This is a public-private fund, where vulnerable households receive support for paying their energy bills. The cabinet has reserved 60 million this year for assistance in paying energy bills. The energy sector is willing to bear the implementation costs of the fund.

Opening Fund

The cabinet intends to grant a subsidy to the Temporary Emergency Fund Energy (TNE). This is due to the experience and expertise they have gained in recent years with the emergency energy fund. TNE needs at least eight weeks to operationalize the energy fund. Before the application window can open, it must be confirmed that the implementation costs are definitively covered by parties other than the state. This is important because otherwise, there is a risk that the fund will be seen as state aid.

It is currently not known when households can submit an application to the energy fund. The way in which assistance for sustainability will take shape is also being further developed. The cabinet will inform the House of Representatives about this in the short term.

People can leave their details on the website of the Temporary Emergency Fund Energy (Temporary Emergency Fund Energy) and will be notified when it becomes clear when the energy fund will open.
