Police Finds Drug Lab in Building on Hantumerweg

Gebied: Dokkum

On Friday, February 7, the police went to a building on Hantumerweg in Dokkum after receiving a report of a suspicious situation. In the building, the police found a lab for the production of possibly synthetic drugs.

Arrests

Two men were arrested in the building. These are a 34-year-old man from Hoogezand and a 22-year-old man from Dokkum. Both men are in custody and are being interrogated. The investigation into the drug lab is in full swing. Today, we are conducting forensic and neighborhood research at the site, and the LFO (National Facility for Dismantling) of the police is on site to safely dismantle the drug lab.

Do you suspect a drug lab?

Drug laboratories and storage places pose a great risk in residential areas and on industrial sites. Not only the production process but also the storage of chemicals is dangerous. If you have tips about the presence of such criminal activities, please report them to the police. You can do this via 0900-8844 or via Meld Misdaad Anoniem at 0800-7000. Please provide information such as license plates, cars, or descriptions of people at the site where possible.

How to recognize a drug lab?

Drug labs can be located anywhere; in rural areas or in large cities, in barns, residential houses, garage boxes, or apartment buildings. Signs that a drug lab may be present include a strong synthetic smell (anise-like or chemically irritating, sour, or acetone). Unused doors and windows are often sealed, for example with spray foam.
