The victim is walking home around 5:00 AM Saturday night after visiting a café in the city center. Near the so-called Ponlijntje, she hears footsteps behind her that sound faster and faster. Suddenly she is grabbed. The girl starts screaming loudly, but no one hears her. A man forces her to walk towards the viaduct where he rapes her. Before the perpetrator lets her go, he talks about his prosthetic hand. He says he is the only one with such a hand in Amersfoort.
Investigation
The detectives conducted extensive investigations in 1995, but also thereafter. In 2018, a DNA profile of the perpetrator was obtained from secured traces. That profile was not found in the DNA database. Also, DNA kinship studies in 2021 and 2023 yielded nothing. We hope that there are people who respond to the combination of prosthetic hand, the 90s, and Amersfoort. The fact that DNA from the perpetrator is known may help lower a potential barrier to passing a name on to us.
Reconstruction on TV
On Tuesday evening, February 4, Opsporing Verzocht will pay attention to this case. A reconstruction and an interview with the victim will be shown. The case will also be featured the next day in the regional investigation program Bureau Hengeveld of RTV Utrecht.
