The National Digital Infrastructure Inspectorate (RDI) requested Starlink to stop offering satellite services in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, because the company did not have the required concession. Shortly thereafter, Starlink submitted a concession application. Recently, the RDI rejected this application, as the company did not meet one of the stipulated conditions.
An important condition is that a company must be locally registered in the commercial register of the Chamber of Commerce BES. Since the company has not yet completed this, the RDI rejects the concession application. Starlink can reapply for a concession once all conditions are met.
Starlink is not allowed to provide internet to individuals and businesses in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba without a concession. Exceptions apply to foreign ships and aircraft, and disaster teams designated by the government during emergencies, such as hurricanes.
