Throw trash inside the container instead of next to it. Bags placed next to the container are often opened by animals such as rats. To raise awareness, roaming rats are projected onto the trash container in Carnisse.
Rats love food scraps from garbage bags. Therefore, it is important to always throw food scraps and garbage into the street bin. Do not place the bags next to the container and definitely do not throw loose food scraps on the street. Rats cause nuisance, they can even enter your home.
Video Projection
To draw attention to this, the Municipality of Rotterdam has installed a video projection on Texelsestraat in the Carnisse district. It shows roaming rats and the text: Prevent rats, throw your waste in the container.
Litter
Trash next to the container leads to litter. Litter is all the trash that is scattered outside. It can be in the greenery or in the water, but also on the street. Litter creates a messy and sometimes unsafe street view. Moreover, it is very harmful to the environment and animals.
