Almere Gets a Night Train to and from Amsterdam, Schiphol, and Zwolle

The municipal councils of Almere and Lelystad have decided that Arriva will operate night trains for two years from Almere to Amsterdam, Schiphol, and Zwolle. The service will start on March 14.

The train will run on Friday and Saturday nights. The route is: Zwolle – Lelystad Centrum (1:46) – Almere Centrum (1:59) – Amsterdam Centraal (2:20) – Schiphol (2:36) and back: Schiphol (2:42) – Amsterdam Centraal (2:54) – Almere Centrum (3:17) – Lelystad Centrum (3:36) - Zwolle. Transfers are possible at Amsterdam Centraal and Schiphol.

Councilor Micha Mos (Mobility, Almere) states: “This night train expands opportunities for Almere residents, especially for night travelers and nightlife. Travelers to Schiphol will also benefit. We are pleased to realize this with Arriva. A night train fits the growth of our city.”

Prices

Travelers will pay 5, 10, or 15 euros depending on the distance. This is cheaper than regular OV-chipkaart prices. Tickets can be purchased via the Arriva glimble app and the 9292 app. Tickets can also be bought on the train, with a surcharge of 2.50 euros, but this amount will be refunded as travel credit via glimble.

Competition

In the week before the first ride, the municipalities of Almere and Lelystad, along with Arriva, will hold a competition for 5 residents of Almere and 5 from Lelystad to travel for free on the first night train. More information will be shared via social media.
