On Tuesday, February 18, and Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal near Diemen will be blocked from 10:00 to 14:00 between kilometer markers 4 and 6.
Grid operator TenneT will repair one circuit of the high-voltage lines that were damaged on Monday, February 17, by a crane ship performing work for Rijkswaterstaat. In this collision, two high-voltage lines were broken, and at least one was damaged.
The repair work needs to be carried out as quickly as possible to ensure the continued supply of electricity in this area.
Repair Work
On both days, TenneT will place a pontoon in the middle of the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, where technicians will reconnect the broken cables with a new section. On Wednesday, the grid operator will remove the other damaged conductor. TenneT will then be able to put one of the two faulty circuits back into operation.
To fully repair the damage, TenneT will need to carry out more work at a later time to get the second circuit of this connection operational again. When, how, and what this means for shipping is currently being investigated.
Rijkswaterstaat informs shipping about blockages via BAS messages.
