Broadcast Undercover Leads to Investigation

Gebied: Meijel

In the broadcast of Undercover in the Netherlands on September 22, 2024, a medical malpractice in Meijel was brought to attention. In response, the police, under the direction of the Public Prosecution Service, in collaboration with investigators from the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate, initiated an investigation.

In the broadcast, Alberto Stegeman and his team showed that a man and a woman from Meijel tried to convince an incurably ill woman that they could cure her. The victim was invited to a chalet at a holiday park in North Limburg. The man posed as a doctor. He used a device described in the program as a massage device. At one point, the man ‘spits’ out a number of pieces of flesh, which are claimed to be tumors.

Presumably more victims
Investigations have revealed that these two individuals, posing as doctors, have also applied this method to other victims.

Arrest
In this investigation, two individuals were arrested on February 11. They have been detained and are being held at the police station.

Report
The investigation team calls on anyone who recognizes the aforementioned method to come forward. Victims who wish to file a report can contact the police. This can be done via 0900-8844.
