On Sunday, January 12, the suspect strikes for the first time. Somewhere between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM, the unsuspecting 82-year-old victim (man) receives a call from a woman. This woman immediately instills fear in the man that money needs to be transferred due to suspicious situations. The victim mentioned that his wife had passed away last year.

The victim had to perform various actions after which a man from a security company would come by for the cards and PIN codes. After being in conversation for 3.5 hours, a person stands at the door.

The victim handed this person an envelope with a bank card and PIN code as agreed. Unfortunately, the victim thought these were helpful people, but unfortunately. This suspect purchases items at the MediaMarkt in the Hoog Catherijne shopping center in Utrecht for over €2400. Unfortunately, this suspect did not stop at this fraud.

Second Fraud

On Thursday, January 16, an 83-year-old woman is defrauded. This time not by being called beforehand, but this time two people stood at the door; a man and a woman. The man told the victim that they were from the bank and came to exchange her bank cards. They asked if they could come inside for a moment.

The two individuals sat in the living room, asking several times for the PIN code. Eventually, they managed to get it along with the victims bank card, after which they left the residence.

Unfortunately, it was not helpful people either. The same suspect as on Sunday, January 12, again purchases at a MediaMarkt for an amount of over €1300. This occurred in Nieuwegein.
