King and Secretary of State Rummenie on working visit to grower and producer in North Holland

His Majesty the King will visit a paprika grower in Andijk and a tulip grower in Hem on Wednesday afternoon, March 12, together with Secretary of State for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature, Jean Rummenie.

The working visit starts at paprika grower Jansen where the King and the Secretary of State will receive a tour of the paprika greenhouse. The company employs innovative methods to use as little fossil energy as possible, for example through the use of geothermal energy. Finally, they will speak with growers and representatives from the region about further sustainability of the sector.

Afterwards, King Willem-Alexander and Secretary of State Rummenie will go to tulip nursery Ronico, a family business in Hem. In this brand new, hyper-modern energy-efficient greenhouse, they will receive an explanation about the company and an overview of the innovative developments in the greenhouse. They will then engage in discussions with several stakeholders about the use of robotics in the sector in relation to labor migration and the challenges of achieving energy-neutral operations.

The King regularly undertakes working visits with a minister or secretary of state. Through concrete practical examples, the officials show the effects of the policy.
