The boy filed a report and the police launched an investigation. Officers interviewed several witnesses, and investigations were also conducted on social media platforms like Snapchat.
This ultimately resulted in the arrest of two suspects on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. The first suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Zierikzee, was taken from his bed early in the morning. The second suspect was addressed on Wednesday afternoon. Officers entered his home because a firearm was believed to be located there. This turned out to be correct. The firearm was found to be a BB gun, but is certainly suitable for threatening and is therefore prohibited in the Netherlands. The weapon has been seized and will be destroyed.
The two suspects were interviewed by detectives and, after providing their statements, were released on Wednesday afternoon. They will have to answer to the judge at a later date.
