Three Arrests in Drug Trafficking Investigation

In November 2024, the district investigation team in Leiden started an investigation after signals were received that a 48-year-old man without a fixed residence was trafficking drugs. After sufficient suspicions regarding the suspect from the investigation arose, a public prosecutor granted permission to arrest the man in the act. He was arrested on the evening of March 4 in Leiden. During the subsequent searches of two homes in Leiden, two more suspects were arrested, aged 38 and 43. A quantity of hard drugs, soft drugs, and a significant amount of cash was seized in the homes.

The suspects are being held for questioning by the investigation team. On Friday, March 7, a magistrate will make a decision during the hearing about whether to extend the pre-trial detention of the 48-year-old and 43-year-old suspects. The 38-year-old suspect will be released but remains a suspect.
