For three consecutive days, researchers can collect data at a festival with over 65,000 potential participants. Thanks to collaboration with festival organizers, artists, and scientists, this is possible. Researchers with innovative scientific ideas have the unique opportunity to carry them out at Lowlands, one of the largest and most renowned festivals in the Netherlands.
Lowlands, the National Science Agenda (NWA), New Scientist, and BKB | The Campaign Agency invite researchers from all knowledge institutions in the Netherlands to conduct research at the festival, which is organized this year on August 15, 16, and 17, 2025. Proposals can be submitted until March 28, 2025.
The research can be conducted on the designated Lowlands Science terrain. Lowlands visitors can voluntarily and anonymously participate in experiments, thus engaging with science in practice in an accessible way. Previous editions of Lowlands Science were very successful, both for festival visitors and participating scientists who managed to collect extraordinary amounts of data.
