Cyber Heroes Wanted for the JSCU Summerschool 2025 of the AIVD and MIVD

This summer marks the tenth edition of the Summerschool! From July 28 to August 8, participants will have the chance to look into the work done by the Joint Sigint Cyber Unit (JSCU) of the AIVD and the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD). In two weeks, participants will learn everything about malware, forensics, blue-teaming and red-teaming, from hunting to hacking.

Each year, the JSCU organizes this Summerschool for two weeks. During the Summerschool, people interested in cybersecurity are immersed in the digital domain. This allows them to improve their technical knowledge and skills in the field of cyber, and they get a unique behind-the-scenes look at the Dutch security services.

Mythical Cyber Heroes

The theme of the Summerschool is mythology, so the JSCU is looking for mythical cyber heroes who know their way through the cyber-maze and dare to open Pandoras Box.

To participate in the Summerschool, you must solve a series of challenges. Participants are not only judged on solving tasks. It may also be sufficient to submit the approach to the problem. Every submission up to May 11, 2025, qualifies for the chance to join the services on an adventure during this exclusive computer summer camp from July 28 to August 8, 2025.

More information and assignments can be found on the Summerschool website where interested parties can submit their solutions.

The Joint Sigint Cyber Unit

The Joint Sigint Cyber Unit (JSCU) is a joint unit of the AIVD and the MIVD. The work of this unit mainly involves acquiring data and information. This acquisition can be offensive or defensive, commercial, or from open sources, but always because intelligence is needed in the interest of the security of the Netherlands. At the JSCU, people with different backgrounds and expertise work together. From hardcore programmers to cryptographers, electrical engineers, and people with knowledge of radiography.
