At around 0:45 AM, residents of the neighborhood were startled by a loud bang. While the resident was in bed, an explosive was detonated at her front door. The blast damaged the womans front door. The police cordoned off the area as a precaution. Forensic experts conducted a trace investigation at the property. Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion.
A thorough search of the area has unfortunately not yet led to any arrests. However, witnesses claim to have seen a man dressed in dark clothing with a helmet in his right hand on the street around the time of the explosion. The night before, a paving stone had already been thrown through the window of the same house, and on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, February 26, another explosion occurred elsewhere in the street. This caused damage to a front door and a window above the door.

Explosions
The safety region Amsterdam-Amstelland experiences many incidents involving explosive devices. This is concerning, as the danger posed to entrepreneurs, residents, passersby, and emergency responders on site is significant. Heavily illegal fireworks, jerrycans filled with flammable liquids, or homemade explosives have no place in public spaces where people work and live, creating life-threatening situations. This must stop. The police are working hard to track down suspects involved in this form of excessive violence. This has already led to multiple arrests, convictions, and significant prison sentences. However, to catch the perpetrators, the police need the support of local residents. After all, they know their neighborhood best. If something seems off in the street scene, they are the first to notice. Therefore, passing information to the police is crucial.
