During a check by the animal police together with an inspector from the LID, it became clear that the animals were too thin. Moreover, the donkey was seriously ill. The four-legged animals also had no dry standing or lying place. They were standing deep in the mud and had far too little food and water.
Earlier, reports had been received by the police that the animals were not being properly cared for. In the past week, a veterinarian had to euthanize another horse at the same location because it was in very poor condition.
A report will be made against the owner, after which the Public Prosecution Service will look into the case.
