The House of Representatives will debate on Tuesday, March 11, about the Climate and Energy Outlook 2024 and other plans in the field of climate and energy. The annual outlook, published in October 2024, indicates the progress of climate and energy policy and calculates its effects. The debate can be followed from 4:15 PM via the livestream and the Debate Direct app.
The Netherlands is in the middle of the climate and energy transition, moving towards a fully sustainable 2050. We are entering an important new phase: we have clearly set sail, but we must maintain course, even when it is difficult and we encounter setbacks and hurdles. Our constant effort is needed to achieve the agreed climate and energy goals, including those for 2030, writes Minister Sophie Hermans of Climate and Green Growth in her letter of late October 2024 to the House. With this letter, she offered the Climate and Energy Outlook (KEV) which the House will discuss on March 11.
Supplement
Furthermore, the Climate and Energy Report is also on the agenda. This outlines the steps the cabinet is taking towards a new climate and energy system. At the request of the House, Hermans has made a supplement to the report. This contains an overview of all policies leading to either less or more greenhouse gas reduction in the coming years, but which were not yet included in the Climate and Energy Outlook 2024 because they were not concrete enough.
