Customs Dive Team Finds 41 Kilos of Cocaine Under Ship

The customs dive team, in collaboration with the Coast Guard, discovered two bags of cocaine under a sea vessel from Brazil at the anchorage off the coast of Rotterdam.

The estimated wholesale value of the cocaine shipment is over a million euros. The specialized dive team found the bags in the sea chest of the ship. This is a cavity in the hull below the waterline. Seawater can flow in through the sea chest to cool the ships engine room.

During the operation, the customs team was supported by a ship and an aircraft from the Coast Guard. The Customs Special Assistance Team brought the drugs ashore, tested, and destroyed them.

HARC Team

The HARC team, a collaboration between customs, FIOD, Port Police, and the Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam, is further investigating the case.
