Second Arrest in Investigation into Arsons at the Red Cross Hospital Beverwijk

On Monday, February 24, a suspect was arrested for the arsons of November 25 and 26, 2024, at the Red Cross Hospital on Vondellaan in Beverwijk.

The suspect is a 39-year-old man from the IJmond region without a fixed residence.  

On Sunday, January 12, 2025, a third explosion occurred at the hospital on Vondellaan. For this explosion, the police were able to arrest a 37-year-old man from Beverwijk on Wednesday, January 15. He is still in custody. In mid-April, the judge will consider extending his pretrial detention.

It was previously reported that the investigation team believes there is a connection between the three explosions. The investigation team also assumes that the explosions were carried out on behalf of one client. Multiple arrests are not excluded.
