The publication took place at the Customs office at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. For the first time, partners jointly publish figures. This is an important development, as an effective approach in the ports depends on equal measures internationally.

Combat on Multiple Fronts
The fight against drugs in the ports is carried out by various teams with diverse perspectives. The Hit And Run Cargo team focuses on drug seizures and arrests, while other teams try to disrupt criminal operations and handle daily removals.

Efforts are being made to tackle corrupt links in the port, digital surveillance is conducted, and investigations into criminal power structures are ongoing. This shows that the approach to drug smuggling is effective and that the operations of drug criminals are changing.

No Reason to Celebrate
Although the seizure of cocaine in Rotterdam has decreased, serious problems remain. However, an increase in seizures is observed in Zeeland. The Port Police of Zeeland is also conducting investigations outside the region, including three seizures in Germany weighing a total of 2,480.5 kg.

The Fight Against Drug Smuggling Continues
The 2024 seizures indicate that the ports of Zeeland-West-Brabant and Rotterdam remain attractive for criminals. This requires continued vigilance from law enforcement and businesses, especially as organized crime significantly impacts safety. The fight against undermining crime must continue.
