New Arrest (16) in Investigation of Shooting Incident Asterlo

On Tuesday, the police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Rotterdam in the investigation of the shooting incident on February 16 at Asterlo in Rotterdam, where an 11-year-old boy from Hoogvliet-Rotterdam was seriously injured. The condition of the victim is still very concerning. Last week, six other minors were already arrested. The large-scale investigation led by the Public Prosecution Service continues.

The six arrested suspects were presented last week. Four of them have been released, but remain suspects in this investigation. Two suspects, who were arrested last week, are still in custody. The suspects still in custody are a 15-year-old boy from Rotterdam and a 16-year-old boy from Enschede. With the new arrest included, there are currently a total of three suspects in custody.

February 16
On February 16, around 19:10, officers responded to a report of a loud bang heard in a house on Asterlo. Officers found a seriously injured boy in the house. He had to be resuscitated and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The police immediately launched an investigation. A firearm was found outside the house and has been seized. Other traces are also being examined and footage is being reviewed.

Large-scale Investigation
On Monday, February 17, a TGO (Team Large-scale Investigation) was initiated. This means that a team of about twenty detectives is dealing with this investigation. This team is investigating various scenarios regarding what took place in the house on Asterlo.
