Senate adopts Law on Data Processing for Targeted Approach

On January 28, the Senate adopted a bill regulating data processing for targeted approaches to combat radicalization and terrorism. Parties including OPNL, GroenLinks-PvdA, and others supported the bill, while FVD and PvdD opposed it.

Mayors will now be responsible for organizing case discussions on radicalization. This ensures proper data exchange among involved organizations, aligning with GDPR regulations. Two motions were also adopted.

Aangenomen moties

  • Motion-Nicolaï on assessing open appeals under administrative law received a favorable advice.
  • Motion-Van de Sanden on investigating legal frameworks for online monitoring also received favorable advice.

About the Bill

The local approach is legally established to identify and tackle radicalization. Signals can be discussed in case meetings to develop an effective integrated approach. Relevant organizations are assessed for their roles and data needs.
