Eindhoven is taking action this year as the first municipality in Brabant to denormalize drug use during carnival. This is being done under the flag of the regional project Skip that trip and in collaboration with the Federation of Eindhoven Carnival (FEC).
The goal of the campaign is to make partygoers think about their own drug use. The underlying message: Saying no to drugs is normal. Campaign banners will be displayed at all party locations in Lampegat. The message will also be spread through social media.
Skip that trip
It seems that drugs are becoming increasingly normalized and usage is on the rise. This is also true for the associated problems, such as crime, (traffic) safety, undermining, and an increasing demand for care.
The municipalities in the East Brabant police region, GGD Hart voor Brabant, GGD Brabant-Zuidoost, and Novadic-Kentron want to address this shift in norms and have joined forces in the regional project Skip that trip, which started in 2021. More info at www.skipdietrip.nl.
The topic of the campaign is very current: Princes fear drug use during carnival: ‘Social problem’ also occurs during the fools festival.
