Eindhoven Works on Cleaner Air

Eindhoven aims to significantly improve air quality. This is necessary for a pleasant living and working environment in our growing city. By reducing harmful substances from traffic and wood burning, we can together ensure cleaner and healthier air.

Therefore, the municipality of Eindhoven will provide a subsidy of between 400 and 1500 euros starting March 1, 2025, for residents and entrepreneurs who have scrapped their old, polluting scooters, mopeds, cars, or vans. For residents with a low income, there is a trade-in option, whereby they receive a new electric scooter after scrapping the old moped or scooter.

Use the Wood Burning Guide

Homeowners in Eindhoven who have their flue gas channel removed can receive a subsidy of up to 1000 euros. Furthermore, we advise residents to burn wood smarter by using the Wood Burning Guide. In the fall, a burning ban will follow based on the Wood Burning Guide. This is a handy tool that helps determine when it is better not to burn wood, for example, during calm weather. Together, we work towards cleaner air.

Amounts

For scrapping a moped or scooter, there is a budget of 400 euros, for the trade-in scheme for low-income mopeds and scooters, 1200 euros, for the scrapping of polluting vans 1500 euros and for polluting cars 1000 euros, and for low-income individuals 1500 euros. A subsidy of 1000 euros is available for the removal of a flue gas channel. Each category has a maximum amount. In 2024, a total of 505 vehicles were delivered.

Accelerating

In 2030, a zero-emission zone will come into effect in Eindhoven within the Ring. This will provide health benefits for our residents, but it will also affect their transportation. Residents within the Ring can already scrap their old polluting diesel cars. Residents and businesses with a van in Eindhoven can also scrap the polluting van.

Councillor Rik Thijs (Climate and Energy): With the proposed subsidy schemes, we want to accelerate electric transportation and thus contribute to cleaner air in the city in the short term. We want to help residents and entrepreneurs switch to sustainable and clean transportation options now.
