The 16 selected proposals for Regional Deals come from all over the country and are a mix of rural areas, urban environments, Caribbean Netherlands, and regions at the edges of the country. These Regional Deals invest in security of existence, livability, and community spirit to improve the lives, living conditions, and working conditions of residents and entrepreneurs.
Mona Keijzer, Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning: “With this strong impulse in 16 regions, we show: we believe in the strength of the region. As a government, we are focusing this investment on retaining young talent for the regional labor market, strengthening the regional economy, greening the living environment, and improving accessibility to facilities.”

€ 1.8 billion for Regional Deals
This is the sixth and final round of Regional Deals; in five previous rounds, more than 65 deals have already been closed, and in this last round, 16 proposals have been selected. For the first three rounds, €950 million was available, the budget for the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds was €900 million. In total, over 80 Regional Deals have seen an investment of €1.85 billion. This is how we build strong regions to live, work, and thrive.
How does a Regional Deal work?
When closing a Regional Deal, the regions come up with plans and ideas to tackle issues. The government contribution is one-time and amounts to a minimum of €5 million and a maximum of €40 million.
In the sixth round, 27 proposals were submitted. The assessment always focused on how the approach contributes to strengthening the broad prosperity of residents and entrepreneurs in the respective region.
