Police Arrests Five Individuals in Investigation of Fake Officers

Gebied: Eindhoven

Thanks to the vigilance of observant citizens and colleagues, five individuals were arrested yesterday in an investigation into fake officers. Two fake officers attempted to make victims in Eindhoven and were caught in the act and arrested. That same evening, three other individuals were arrested after valuable items were found in their car that had been stolen during a previous trick by fake officers.

At the beginning of the evening, an elderly couple in Eindhoven received a phone call. The person on the other end of the line claimed to be from the Police and informed them that fake officers were active in their area, targeting their valuable belongings. The conversation quickly shifted to what valuables the couple had in their home. The couple was advised to store their belongings safely with the real Police so that the fake officers would have no chance to steal their precious items. The couple did not trust this and called 112. This led them to discover that someone was trying to trick them out of their valuables. Officers promptly went to the couples home and caught the two fake officers in the act as they presented themselves at the front door. The female suspects are both from Tilburg and are 21 years old.

Discovery of Valuable Items

Earlier that evening, patrolling officers observed a car entering a street in Eindhoven where it was prohibited. The driver was signaled to stop, revealing that they did not have a drivers license. Upon checking the vehicle, officers found jewelry and coins. Investigations show that these items were obtained from a trick involving fake officers. The suspects (ages 21, 21, and 23) are from Amsterdam. How they came into possession of the items is part of the investigation.

Dont Fall for It!

As the police, we receive multiple reports daily of so-called fake officers trying to defraud people. This is also happening in our province. We emphasize that a real officer never calls or comes to your door to secure valuables like jewelry or money. Hang up immediately if you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the police asking about your valuables. Call the police yourself at 0900-8844 to verify whether you were genuinely contacted by a police officer. If an officer comes to your door to collect valuables or money, call 112.

How to Recognize a Real Officer?

A real police officer can always identify themselves with a police identification card. This is a card with a name, personnel number, and photo, credit card-sized. Officers in plain clothes are required to show this to you and give you all the time you need to inspect the evidence. If in doubt, you can always call 0900-8844.

Always Report and/or File a Complaint!

Again: if you dont trust it, call the police and do not hesitate to close the door and not let anyone in! If you have been the target of a scam or have been defrauded, always report and/or file a complaint, as this allows us to connect cases together.
