Police are looking for a suspect in two robberies in Amsterdam-West

On Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2025, robberies took place at a phone store on Kinkerstraat and a tobacco shop on Curaçaostraat. In both cases, it was an attempted robbery and no one was injured. The detectives are looking for witnesses and footage of the robberies.

Kinkerstraat
At around 14:55, a man wearing a balaclava, holding a knife and an Albert Heijn bag enters the store. The suspect threatens the employee. The victim manages to escape outside and locks the store door behind them. The robber manages to escape without taking anything. The victim chases the suspect towards the Tweede Kostverlorenkade. He then sees him enter Jacob van Lennepstraat but loses sight of him afterward.  

Curaçaostraat
At approximately 17:00, the incident occurs at the tobacco shop on Curaçaostraat. A man wearing a balaclava, holding a knife and an Albert Heijn bag enters the store. He threatens the employee and demands money. The victim does not accept this and drives the robber away with a vacuum cleaner pipe. The suspect flees without any loot towards Antillenstraat. After that, there is no trace left.

The detectives and Forensic Investigation arrive on the scene and investigate a possible connection in these cases. The detectives would like to get in touch with anyone who knows more about the suspects escape route and may have helped him get away. 

Suspect description:
- male;
- height 1.80 - 1.85 meters;
- age between 20 and 30 years;
- slim build;
- black balaclava;
- black jacket with a white logo, probably North Face;
- light gray sweatpants;
- Albert Heijn bag in hand.
