10 years in prison demanded for man over shooting incident in Rotterdam-South

On a normal day, the victim leaves the mosque after noon prayers and encounters a friend regarding repaid money. An argument ensues, followed by gunfire. The victim is seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The police, under a prosecutors guidance, begins a manhunt. On August 4, 2024, they arrest a 29-year-old man in Arnhem. Despite claiming self-defense, the prosecutor sees no indication that the victim possessed a weapon. The official ruling is that it was an attempted manslaughter, alongside possession of a firearm.
