On Sunday, January 26, 2025, the National Holocaust Remembrance will take place at the Spiegelmonument Never Again Auschwitz in Wertheimpark, Amsterdam. The park will be closed from Saturday, January 25, 3:00 PM to Monday, January 27, 1:00 PM due to the preparations for the commemoration.
Program
The silent march starts at 10:55 AM from the City Hall/Music Theater. The route goes through Meester Visserplein, Muiderstraat, the Hortus Bridge, and Plantage Middenlaan to Wertheimpark. The ceremony starts at 11:30 AM at the Auschwitz monument and lasts until 12:30 PM. After the ceremony, visitors can lay flowers and wreaths.

The commemoration will be broadcast live on NPO 1.
Accessibility and parking
- The silent march departs from the city hall, accessible by metro 51, 53, 54 (Waterlooplein stop) or tram 14 (Rembrandtplein stop). Paid parking garages are available nearby. The nearest disabled parking space is at the main entrance of the city hall/Music Theater upon presentation of a permit.
- Between 10:45 and 11:30 AM, vehicular traffic along the route will be redirected. Tram 14 will follow an adjusted route from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Information can be found on the GVB website.
- From Saturday, January 25, 7:00 AM to Monday, January 27, 1:00 PM, parking spots on both sides of Plantage Parklaan will be temporarily suspended. This will be indicated with warning signs a few days before the commemoration. This area will be closed to traffic during the commemoration.
Bicycle racks
Starting Sunday morning, January 26, 7:00 AM, (motor) bicycles will be removed from the area around Wertheimpark. This will be indicated with warning signs placed along the fence. Bicycles attached to municipal property will also be removed. If your bicycle has been removed, you can contact the Bicycle Depot at 14 020. Any damage to the bicycle and/or lock is the owners responsibility.
