The Education Inspectorate has not visited enough schools for years, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science was not informed. As a result, the House of Representatives received incorrect information. Therefore, the inspector-general is invited for a hearing on January 16.
Investigation
The Education Inspectorate promised in 2007 to visit every primary school every four years, but this did not happen between 2014 and 2021, according to a Nieuwsuur investigation. After 2021, the inspectorate abandoned this promise.
Lack of Information
The House of Representatives assumed compliance with the promise. State Secretary Mariëlle Paul expressed regret over the incomplete information in a letter to the House and committed to improving the information supply.
Hearing
Following the reports, the permanent committee for Education, Culture, and Science invited the inspector-general for a hearing to discuss the number of school visits.
