Registration for the Amsterdam Street Football Tournament has begun

Amsterdam celebrates its 750th anniversary with a gift to the youth: the Cruyff Street League. The street football tournament gives all young people aged 10 to 15 the chance to showcase their skills. This is their moment. Registration starts on Monday, February 10.

The street football tournament has preliminary rounds at 36 locations in all districts and the Weesp area. Everyone is welcome, both beginner and experienced players. Participation is free.

Registration

Young people aged 10 to 15 from Amsterdam can participate in the tournament. Registration can be done per team or individually and can only be for the district where the children live or go to school. A team must consist of at least 6 and at most 8 players. Registration can be done through the website of the Cruyff Street League. All other game rules can also be found there.

How does it work?

Young people from all parts of the city compete in the preliminary rounds in teams of 5 against 5 players. There are 4 different categories: boys and girls aged 10 to 12, and boys and girls aged 13 to 15. Even if you are not playing, you are welcome. Encourage the players during the preliminary rounds.

Where is it played?

The preliminary rounds of the Cruyff Street League are played at the nicest squares and Cruyff Courts in all 7 districts and the Weesp area. From Cruyff Court Oranjeveld and football field Zeeburgereiland, to Cruyff Court Molenwijk and playground De Waag.

Final at the Dam on July 5, 2025

Teams compete in the preliminary rounds against other squares in the neighborhood. The best teams play the district finals. The teams that win the district finals qualify for the grand city final on July 5 at the Dam. The Dam will be transformed into a street football festival where teams from different districts compete for the coveted title.

Old tradition, new form

Amsterdam had a street football tournament from the late 1970s until 2017. The Amsterdam football legend Johan Cruyff was the patron of this classic tournament until his death. A ball, a street, a field: that’s all Cruyff needed. We have seized the 750th anniversary of the city to breathe new life into the tradition.
