In 2024, the ILT, together with the police, conducted alcohol checks among train employees. No violations were found.

In 2024, the ILT, along with the National Police Unit, conducted alcohol checks on train drivers, conductors, and other rail staff. No violations were detected. The results were shared with relevant companies and municipalities.

A total of 241 breath tests were conducted on train drivers, tram and metro operators, and ProRail conductors. Checks were carried out at major stations such as Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Nijmegen, and at the Kijfhoek marshalling yard.

Controls in transport regions

The focus was on carriers RET, GVB, HTM, and Qbuzz. The employees reacted positively to the checks.

Stricter alcohol standards

Working under the influence is dangerous. The new Railway Act lowers the permitted alcohol level from 0.5 to 0.2, matching the Road Traffic Act for novice drivers.
