€1.18 billion and €128 million payments to the Netherlands and Denmark move forward under NextGenerationEU with Commissions positive preliminary assessments

The European Commission has given positive preliminary assessments for the Netherlands request of €1.18 billion and Denmarks request of €128 million under NextGenerationEU, Europes key recovery effort. This initiative aims for a greener, more digital, and competitive EU.

The Commission confirmed that both countries met the necessary milestones and targets under the Recovery and Resilience Facility. The Netherlands plan includes reforms in environmental taxation and housing, and investments in green hydrogen and healthcare. Denmarks plan covers reforms in health and green taxation, and investments in industrial site rehabilitation.

Key projects include building 900,000 homes in the Netherlands by 2030 and expanding ICU capacity in hospitals. In Denmark, a Green Tax Reform aims to reduce CO2 emissions, while efforts are underway to clean up industrial pollution sites.

The Economic and Financial Committee will review these assessments, and upon positive feedback, the Commission will authorize the payments.

Denmark and the Netherlands plans focus on sustainable and resilient economies, with the Netherlands receiving €5.4 billion and Denmark €1.6 billion to support these goals.
